KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that his government has given special priority to the development of Mirpurkhas division which includes health, water & sanitation, road infrastructure, provision of gas to Umerkot and to develop Thar.
“This all would happen when elected representatives to give ownership to the on-going uplift schemes by monitoring them.”
He said this while presiding over three separate meetings to review development portfolio of three districts, Tharparkar, Umerkot and Mirpurkhas. The meetings were attended by provincial ministers Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, Dr Sikandar Mendhro, Jam Mehtab Dahar, Jam Khan Shoro, Imdad Pitafi, Fayaz But, MNAs, MPAs and other elected representatives and senior officers of P&D, finance, works & services, education, commissioner Mirpurkhas Shafiq Mahesar and others.
The chief minister said that 13 different departments have launched 76 schemes of Rs 15991.298 million against which Rs 11154.311 million have been released against which Rs 6000 million have been utilized. He also added that keeping in view the urgency of 17 on-going schemes his government has decided to release their 100 percent funds so that they could be completed by June 2017.
It may be noted that out of 76 schemes, two belong to Culture department, four to education, five to health, two to Irrigation, one of law, seven of local government, eight of Mines & Mineral, 10 Public Health Engineering, three to Rural Development, two of special initiatives, 20 of Thar Coal Infrastructure and 18 to Works department.
He told the meeting that in Umerkot district 49 schemes of Rs 1470.815 million have been launched by 10 different departments. The government has released Rs 1007.520 million against which Rs 700 million have been utilized. He added that like other districts, his government has identified eight important schemes for which total allocated funds have been released so that they could be completed by June 2017.
Out of 49 schemes one scheme belongs to Culture department, five to education, one to health, four to irrigation, one to law, two of local government, 10 of PHE, three of rural development, two of sports and 19 to works department.
In the meeting MNA Nawab Yousif Talpur pointed out that Umerkot has no natural gas, therefore necessary measures must be taken for the purpose. He said that the prime minister has approved schemes to provide gas to 28 district headquarters of them only two districts have been taken up from Sindh. On this the chief minister assured him that he would take up the issue with federal government to provide gas to Umerkot.
Some of the important schemes of Umerkot are provision of Water from Thar Wah of Umerkot to Keetari Keetari taluka Chhchhro via Dalho jo Tar, kaplore, Viklore Tar, Budha Sandha, Vicholo Par, Ratan Jo Tar and construction of underground reservoir. Rehablitation of archeological museum & missing facilities, construction of shelterless primary school, establishment of Girls degree college Samaro; upgradation of RHC Kunri to the level of THQ, construction of court building at Kunri, Water supply scheme Nabisar Thar, water supply scheme through pipeline from Chhor for village Hawele Arisar and others.
