HYDERABAD: Workers of the Sindh National Tehreek (SNT) on Friday urged the United Nations (UN) and the World Bank (WB) to take notice of violations committed by the Indian government regarding the Indus Basin Treaty and warned it could trigger war between the two countries.
He made these remarks while addressing a rally of party workers outside of Press Club here. The participants protested policies of Indian government and also burnt Indian flag. Ashraf Noonari strongly criticized Indian ruling party for violating the water treaty and said it could create unrest in the region and the world.
By building a dam on Indus River, Indian government wanted to create scarcity of water in Pakistan and inflict clossal loss to its agriculture. He said an attempt to stop water from Indian side could harm agriculture sector and create starvation in Pakistan. He said that million of people of Sindh are ready to sacrifice if India resorted to any such move as it was an issue of survival for us. SNT leaders Lala Qurban Sodro, Dr Mir Allah Dad Talpur, Najeeb Ahmed Thebo, Dr Uzma Jokhio, Akhtar Sindhi, Jhangi Mallah and large numbers of women of the Hindu community attended the rally.
