KARACHI: Civil Hospital Karachi’s (CHK) extremely poor sanitation and cleanliness has irked the visiting and admitted patient, as well as the medical staff, it was learned on Thursday.
While talking to PPI, reliable sources at the CHK said that the wards, corridors, doctors’ rooms, receptions and toilets of the hospital were in pathetic condition due to poor sanitation. They said that millions of rupees allocated every year for cleanliness were largely misused.
The sources said that patients and their attendants are using unclean water for drinking, while sanitary conditions of hospital urgently needed improvement as lives of patients are at stake.
Civil Hospital Karachi Medical Superintendent Dr Zulfiqar Ali Siyal said that over 100 sanitary workers posts have been lying vacant in his hospital and the administration has requested health department to give them permission for recruitment of sanitary staff in order to bring improvement in sanitation condition.
