LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-London) leader Nadeem Nusrat claimed on Thursday that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar was supporting banned terror outfits in the country.
Nusrat was speaking at a press conference at the party’s international secretariat, in which he also identified Nisar as being the man behind the ‘malicious campaign’ against MQM-London chief, Altaf Hussain.
Nusrat said that Chaudhry Nisar had a long history of supporting prohibited militant groups, adding that the minister had been hosting terror outfits in his office which was, at the very least, a disservice to the country’s martyrs.
Talking to media, Nusrat said,: “There are many loopholes under his (Chaudhry Nisar`s) ministry and in our system. His basic responsibility must be to address them.”
“He gave a very lame excuse that no action can be taken against Lal Masjid cleric as there are no charges against him, Dr Farhatalah Babar presented copies of FIRs in Senate, however the Interior Minister did not present any clarification on it,” the party leader said.
Nusrat also said refuted the allegations of charges against Dr Hasan Zafar Arif, adding that he had been detained on the grounds of maintenance of law and order.
He added that Altaf Hussain had been cleared by Scotland Yard in the money laundering probe. He alleged that Nisar was making an issue out of it by questioning the British justice system.
He also replied to questions on the case of former leader Dr Imran Farooq’s death, noting that the concerned British authorities had investigated the case thoroughly, however the lack of cooperation from their Pakistani counterparts had meant that the case could not come to a decision.
“The accused were arrested from Pakistan and were taken into custody. Even if today they are handed over, but due to the long duration of their custody their evidence would now be considered lame,” he said, adding “Pakistani government jeopardised the criminal investigation.”
Deriding both MQM-Pakistan and the Pakistan Sarzameen Party, the leader said that both the political parties were being given oxygen by certain circles.
“They are an extension of PMLQ, National Peoples Party and MQM Haqiqi, once the oxygen is taken from them they would stand nowhere as they have no standing in the masses,” he claimed.
