LAHORE: The initial report of the suicide attack on Mall Road has been submitted to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday.
The case of the attack was registered in the Counter Terrorism Department’s (CTD) Bedian road branch.
According to the report, the suicide bomber was seen hovering around at 5:00 PM on Charing Cross. The CM was also reportedly slated to visit the area that day.
The suicide bomber detonated himself at around 6:10 PM.
At least 13 people, including Traffic Deputy Inspector General Capt (r) Ahmed Mubeen and Police Operations Senior Superintendent Zahid Gondal were martyred, while over 100 were injured.
The suicide bomber had been wearing a white Shalwar Kameez covered with a black jacket and was estimated to be aged between 16 to 18 years.
Body parts including the arms, legs and jaw of the bomber had also been recovered and sent to laboratories for DNA test.
Around six to eight kilogrammes of explosives were used in the blast.
Meanwhile, a day of mourning across Pakistan, especially in Lahore, was observed on Tuesday, while national flags were raised at half-mast.
A large number of people arrived at the house of the martyred Zahid Gondal to condole family members.
People across the country also urged for operations to be conducted in order to end terrorism from its roots.
