LAHORE: As many as 5,000 policemen were deployed to ensure foolproof security for Friday prayers.
Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Captain (r) Amin Wains said that Lahore police were employing all possible resources to secure lives and assets of citizens, and that all policemen and officials were playing a significant role in war against terrorism. He added that public cooperation was the prerequisite in war against all evils.
All the divisional superintendents of police (SPs) patrolled their respective areas to ensure security arrangements around all mosques and religious places, whereas Dolphin
Force and Police Response Unit also patrolled all main roads of the city.
The CCPO said that more police contingents had been deployed at all entry and exit points of the city whereas police were checking all vehicles.
Senior police officers, he said, were also monitoring security arrangements at all important religious places as well other government and private buildings via closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
He said that police were carrying out search, sweep and combing operations across the city on a daily basis and several people including, hardened criminals, suspects had been arrested in different parts of the city.
