KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar on Tuesday flayed appointment of a non-cadre official as the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation senior medical and health services director.
In a letter to the Sindh chief secretary, Akhtar asserted that the notification for posting of BPS-19 official Dr Salma Kausar Ali is in violation of the Supreme Court orders.
He said, “In case if this notification is not withdrawn, we will go to court of law.”
The mayor has also attached all relevant papers and order of the SC.
He claimed that in the notification SGA&CD-2/7/2008(LG-38, March 16, there is no mention of current grade for her posting against the post of a senior director.
He added that he would not allow and accept Dr Salma on the post.
Earlier, the SC rejected the application of Dr Salma Kauser, requesting for her posting on this post vide order CP, D-6788 of 2015 on non-cadre status.
Dr Salma requested that when Dr Azfar Moid, an official of grade-19, could be posted on this post, she could also be given the same post.
Former KMC administrator Laiq Ahmad had apologised to the court for not removing Dr Salma from the post.
Later, Muhammad Ali Abbasi, a senior KMC official of grade-20, was given the post.
The Local Government Department (LGD) on October 26, 2015 in the written letters to all civic bodies had also asked to relieve all OPS officials working on non-cadre postings in different departments.
