NEW DELHI: Pakistani High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit has said Kashmir is the core issue and Pakistan will not budge even an inch on Kashmir issue. “Pakistan wants to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue but talks process is linked to core issues. We will not budge even an inch on Kashmir issue,” he told a private TV channel in New Delhi. He said that outstanding issues can be resolved through dialogue.
He advised India to mull over seriously on what happened on the eve of Heart of Asia Conference in Amritsar. He said Pakistan is committed to peace and security in Afghanistan. He said Pakistan is making sincere efforts for peace and stability in the region. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani criticised Pakistan with reference to terrorist organisations.
“By attending the conference, we have ensured the world that we want talks. But India is avoiding dialogue. However ball is in the court of India with reference to peace,” he said. He also said that political attitude is a must for talks. India should pursue political behaviour for talks. A better future of the region hinges on peace talks, he added. He went on to say that talks with India are conditioned with core issues. The basic outstanding issues must be addressed for normalization in ties between Pakistan and India and peace in the region, he stressed.
The only solution to the Kashmir issue lies in UN resolutions. He said resolution of the Kashmir issue was vital for ensuring lasting peace in the region. He underlined that finger pointing and war mongering will leave negative impact on mutual relations, peace, prosperity and development of the region.
