JANDROT: At least three civilians were killed while three others sustained severe injuries as Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jandrot and Tattapani sectors on Monday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), 18-year-old Asad Ali and 19-year-old Waqar Younas, residents of Bhabra village, and 70-year-old Shabbir Khan, a resident of Polas village, died in the firing. Whereas, 30-year-old Muhammad Shahbaz, 35-year-old Shumaila Khurshid and 14-year-old Hafsa Shabbir of Chakrali village were also injured,” the ISPR said.
Pakistan Army gave a befitting response to silent the guns of the enemy. The situation at the LoC has caused the closure of various educational institutions in the area.
Foreign Office Director General Dr Muhammad Faisal summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh on Monday and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces in Chirikot and Tattapani sectors.
“The deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed condemnable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws,” the DG said. The DG urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC.
