KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Saturday said that the Sindh governor was not supporting various initiatives undertaken by the Sindh government.
Talking to reporters at the Karachi Press Club, Nasir lashed out against elements, he claimed, were unjustly criticising the passing of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Bill by the Sindh Assembly.
“The Sindh Assembly will pass another bill on this matter if we have to,” he said. Referring to issue of electricity prices, he said that the federal government was only providing Rs 9 per unit subsidy to people of Sindh. “On the contrary, Rs 12 per unit subsidy is being provided to the people of Punjab by the federal government,” he said.
He said that rural areas were bearing the brunt of load shedding. “Load shedding in cities is far less than what is happening in our villages. On average, people there have to face 16 hours of load shedding every day,” he said. “We are in a position to set up new power plants in the province. We are also trying to restart closed power plants in Sindh. However, some political parties have started unjustly criticising our plans,” he said. Referring to the PS-114 by-elections, Nasir said that he was confident that the PPP candidate, Saeed Ghani, would win the seat. “He is well aware of the problems facing the people of the area,” he said. The minister, however, rejected claims that government resources were being used in the election campaign. “PPP activists have been helping the people of Sindh.
