GUJRANWALA: Sabzi Mandi police have registered a case against two PML-N union council chairmen for extortion.
The FIR has been got registered on the written application of Municipal Corporation Sub-engineer Muhammad Gulzar, in which he alleged that Asif Munir Goga and Sabir Butt came in his office on 13 May and demanded Rs 100,000. He said when he refused they tortured him and snatched Rs 35,000 while the incident was also witnessed by some other officials.
The chairmen have got their pre-arrest bails from the court of Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Khan till July 28.
LPG: LPG Distributors Association of Pakistan Irfan Khokhar said that as many as four peoples have daily losing their lives in explosions caused by substandard cylinders but no solid action from government institutions was done against groups involved in manufacturing the substandard cylinders.
While addressing a press conference here at chamber of commerce hall he said that about four hundred factories involved in manufacturing substandard cylinders were running at Gujranwala and if no action was done against them then any misshape could be happened in future.
President chamber of commerce and industry Saeed Ahmed Taaj presided over the press conference while representatives of LPG cylinder manufacturers association, general secretary Punjab Iftikhar Malik, technical adviser Atif Javed and others were present at the occasion.
President chamber of commerce Saeed Ahmed Taj while his address said that chamber has constituted a committee in this regard which will produce his report within a month, he warned those who were involved in manufacturing substandard cylinders that they may stop this practice otherwise strict action against them would be recommended from the chambers plate form.
Wronged: A DHQ Hospital doctor operated the wrong eye of a patient while heirs protested against the doctor and demanded action against him. It was told that right eye of Zahid, resident of Bahawalpur, was infected and he was shifted to DHQ Hospital for treatment while duty doctor operated his left eye instead of right.
Shot dead: A man was shot to dead for showing resistance during robbery incident here at Alipur Road.
Riasat, 45, was going on a motorcycle while near Gondlanwala armed men intercepted him and snatched cash, when Riasat showed resistance the dacoits fired at him.
