GUJRANWALA: City Police Officer Ashfaq Khan said action would be taken against people involved in wheelies and jubilant firing during Independence Day celebrations.
He said 4,000 police officials and officers would perform their duties to ensure the law and order in the district on Independence Day. He said on the violation of one wheeling and aerial firing, not only involved people but also their parents would also be arrested. He directed the SPs and DPOs to arrange special squads to ensure the law and order situation in the district. He also appealed the parents to keep eyes on their children for not doing one wheeling and aerial firing otherwise guilty persons would be awarded fine and imprisonment from six months to two years in this regard.
Killed: Two accused involved in ransom and murder of a trader have been killed in an allegedly police encounter on Sunday. It was told that a citizen Ejaz was going on motorcycle when near Kangni Wala three armed men intercepted and deprived him of cash and motorcycle. Meanwhile CIA police on a check point tried to stop the accused persons but they opened fire while in retaliation accused Raza Mehboob and Usama residents of Ali Pur Chatha received bullets and died on the spot while their third companion succeeded to escape. It was told that both the accused were relates with Atif dacoit gang and involved in murder of a trader for not giving ransom about one month before.
I Day celebrations: Besides all parts of the country 70th Independence Day will also be celebrated in Gujranwala with full zeal and zest. The city streets are full of national fervor as people buy patriotic merchandise from the dozens of vendors that have set up shops. Peoples of all groups are busy buying flags and clothing apparel that shows of their love for Pakistan. Main ceremony of Independence Day will be held at Commissioner Office, in which officers of all the government departments and parliamentarians shall be participated.
