BAHAWALPUR: High Commissioner of Canada Perry John Calderwood has said that Pakistan and Canada have very cordial relations and the people of both the countries can get benefit through sharing of each other’s experience.
Speaking at the residence of former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf near Bahawalpur, he said that he was fascinated after experiencing the customs, traditions, rituals and lifestyle of the people of South Punjab as it was his first ever visit to the region. In his welcome address, Zaka Ashraf said that the region has rich potential for foreign investment and there were ample opportunities in different trades in Bahawalpur division. Earlier, a prize distribution ceremony for a school art contest jointly organised by the High Commission of Canada and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), was held at the Government Girls Sadiq Model High School in Bahawalpur the other day.
To the great surprise of the pupils, Perry John Calderwood gave his remarks partly in Urdu and said: “I congratulate all of the students who participated in the poster competition.” The posters demonstrate great artistic creativity and the keen interest of the students to contribute to progress in their communities and country, he said.
