WASHINGTON: Ambassador of Pakistan to United States Jalil Abbas Jilani has said that Pakistan had a rich cultural legacy from Gandhara civilization in the north to Mohenjo-Daro in the South.
The ambassador made these comments during the inauguration ceremony of an exhibition at the Pakistani embassy. A press release issued on Thursday said that a three-day exhibition of paintings was organised by Farida Haq titled “The Secret Life of Trees” on 25th January, 2017.
Addressing the inauguration of the ceremony, the ambassador said, “Our pervasive and resilient strain of Sufi culture remains a powerful force for tolerance, pluralism and coexistence.”
Jilani appreciated Pakistani artists and said, “Sadequain, Abdur Rahman Chughtai, Allah Bux, Ismail Gulgee and Ghulam Rasool are among the iconic figures which Pakistan has produced who got fame with their painting and calligraphy.”
Jalil said that the embassy has always been welcoming for Americans to show and promote the work of Pakistani artists in fields of art and culture.
A large number of senior officials of the US State Department, members of Pakistani-American community, representatives of community organizations, senior military and civilian officials, and representatives of media viewed the exhibition on its inaugural day.
