SEHWAN SHARIF: Around 100 people are feared dead while several others are injured in a powerful blast at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalander on Thursday evening.
Initial reports suggest that the blast occurred during the Dhamal dance at the courtyard of the shrine. Dozens are feared dead and injured in the suicide blast, PPI reporter at Sehwan Hussain Bux Dahri reports.
According to local sources, so far at least 100 people have reportedly died.However, a small local hospital is not equipped to handle the current toll. As per eyewitnesses, ambulance and rescue sources, about 100 people are feared dead and another 100 people injured – many of them seriously.
Emergency has already been declared in all hospitals of the area as many people are feared injured, as on every Thursday evening a big crowd of devotees gather at this shrine.
Police and law enforcers have cordoned off the shrine and rescue activities are in full swing. However, emergency treatment facilities are available only in the teaching hospitals of Jamshoro and Larkana.
Arrangements have also been finalised to treat the injured at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Hyderabad.
