ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has sought the details of all ongoing projects of Thar Coal Authority and ordered the removal of retired employees appointed on contract basis in all the departments of Sindh including Thar Coal Authority.
A three member bench headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim took up the case for hearing on Thursday.
During the course of hearing, the advocate general of Sindh took the plea that chief engineer of Thar Coal Authority (TCA) was appointed on contract basis.
Justice Amir Hani remarked that construction of roads and schools is not the mandate of Thar Coal Authority. He added that employees have not to be appointed on contract basis as the court has already given a verdict in this regard. Therefore, Chief Engineer Muhammad Ali Memon be immediately removed, the judge concluded.
Secretary Coal Authority told the court that Sindh chief minister had appointed him.
In response to this, Justice Qazi Faez Isa enquired about how the chief minister can make an appointment in the presence of Authority Board.
The next hearing of case will take place in Karachi.
