KARACHI: Strongly criticising the Sindh government, Mustafa Kamal, the Pak Sar Zameen Party (PSP) leader, has announced to launch a protest movement in the city.
Addressing a press conference along with Dr Sagheer Ahmed and other leaders, Kamal said that the provincial government had failed to bring about any change in the city. “Things have not moved beyond 2008 in terms of development,” he said.
He said that the government must meet their 16 demands, including immediate announcement of the K-IV project, handing over of KBCA and the master plan department to the office of the mayor, establishment of five garbage transfer stations, chairmanship of water board should be given to the mayor, K-electric should give back over Rs 100 billion taken from consumers through over billing, determination of punishment for land grabbing etc.
Kamal vowed to continue the movement till all the demands were met. He also criticised the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), saying that after the 2013 elections, they had decided to stay away from the government. “All the departments were snatched and MQM silently handed them over. Altaf Hussain sold away the mandate of Karachi to save himself and he mortgaged it when revelations were made about who was funding him,” Kamal said.
He said that the MQM had held a press conference against the government, but the very next day, they had welcomed Rehman Malik.
“MQM dissociated itself from the government five times, but each time they rejoined within 24 hours. Some political parties join the Pakistan People’s Party during the times of elections rather than opposing it,” he said.
