KARACHI: A request was made on Wednesday to remove Former Petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL) in the Sindh High Court (SHC).
The former minister’s counsel forwarded a request to the SHC to allow his client permission to travel abroad for surgery regarding his his back ailment.
A medical board advised Asim to travel abroad to acquire treatment.
The board also stated that Dr Asim has scheduled an appointment for April 20 and any further delays could cause damage to his health.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Ministry of Interior, Sindh Home Department, and Sindh Police Inspector General were made respondents to this request.
Dr Asim, who had been in prison for about 19 months, had been granted bail in two corruption references with directions to deposit his passports along with the surety amount of Rs 2.5 million in each case.
After his release, Dr Hussain was shifted from the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Complex to Ziauddin Hospital.
