KHAIRPUR: Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Shah Abdul Latif University, Endowment Fund Trust for Preservation of the Heritage of Sindh, University at Pompeu Fabra, Spain and Japanese Centre for South Asian Cultural Heritage (JCSACH), Tokyo, Japan at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur on Monday.
Prof.Dr.Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and Mr. Atsushi Noguchi, Director-cum-Secretary General, JCSACH signed the MoU.
The purposes of this MoU are to develop academic and educational cooperation and to promote mutual understanding between Pakistan, Spain and Japan, develop collaborative research projects in the board areas of archaeology, cultural heritage and paleo environment and conduct lectures, workshops, seminars and conferences in Pakistan, Spain and Japan.
The MoU shall be valid for four years and will be extended after being reviewed and renegotiated by each party. On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah said the preservation of cultural heritage of Sindh is the main objective of this MoU. Dr. Shah remarked that Sindh is the cradle of cultural heritage and the preservation of heritage is the collaborative responsibility of all stakeholders of Sindh province. Dr. Shah believed the society will benefit in terms of awareness about their culture and civilization.
A centre will also be developed at Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur where all the findings that arise will be kept and stored by the University.
