KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday congratulated Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for presenting a “people’s budget”.
“The budget has landmark priorities for education and health. At this juncture of history when Sindh budget has crossed the mark of one trillion rupees expectations are high. By presenting a people friendly budget for 2017-18, the Sindh government has opened new vistas for development that benefit the majority unlike the elite schemes in Punjab,” the PPP chairman said in a statement.
He praised the Sindh government for providing incentives to students as well as for the health sector. “Both education and health are the basic steps for raising a society,” he said.
Bilawal said that the provincial government had to take its own initiatives in the energy sector. “The provinces cannot remain fully dependent on the federal government to meet their electricity needs. Exploring and exploiting the alternative energy resources within the province are also a great step to get rid of unbearable load-shedding hurled by Nawaz Sharif government,” he said.
The PPP chairman said that a huge amount of more than Rs 50 billion had been allocated for development projects in the provincial capital.
He also appreciated Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah for creating around 50,000 jobs for the youth of Sindh.
