KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that PPP in Karachi would emerge as one of the largest parties in election 2018 for certain reasons such as restoration of peace by eliminating mafias, removal of no go areas and developing dilapidated infrastructure in the city.
This he said while addressing Eid Milan programme organized by PPP Karachi division at Peoples Secretariat on Wednesday.
He said that the gigantic task for PPP government was the restoration of peace by launching crackdowns against mafia, terrorists, land grabbers, extortionists and target killers. “Today, every one living in this city is leading a peaceful life in his locality and at his work place, otherwise nobody was feeling secure even at his home,” he said and added that on this Eidul Fitr no complaint of forced zakat or fitrana collection was received. “This is our great contribution and service to the people of this city appreciate it,” he said.
Syed Murad Ali Shah said that law enforcement agencies have done wonderful job in restoration of law and order but “it was political will and support of the government that’s why it became possible,” he said.
The chief minister said that his government has launched most important schemes for development of infrastructure of the city. “We are constructing Shahrah-e-Faisal after 40 years and now it looks like one of the beautiful roads in the city,” he said and added that beauty of University Road is also worth looking. “We have turned this city a peaceful and are committed to make it one of the beautiful and developed cities of the world,” he vowed.
He said after launching a targeted operation against terrorists and big mafias now he was focusing on eliminating `street criminals’ for which he was receiving complaints from the citizens. “We have already launched targeted operation against street criminals but now we are going to make it more extensive and target-oriented,” he said.
Murad Ali Shah said that Karachi was the city of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, it was the city of Shaheed Benazir and it was the city of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and this city belonged to him and it belonged to PPP. “Karachi is the capital of Sindh and it is the largest city of the country, therefore it would be developed accordingly,” he said.
The chief Minister said that the people of Karachi had been divided on linguistic grounds but his PPP government through its policies have united them as Pakistani, Sindhi and Karachiites. “Now everyone living here is giving ownership to this city and contributing in its peace, prosperity and development,” he said.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said that he sure that people of Karachi would return PPP in forthcoming general election is one of the largest parties because it has served them genuinely.
The chief minister was received by PPP provincial General Secretary Waqar Mehdi, Rashid Rabbani and a large number of party workers amid the slogans of jeay Bhutto when he reached People Secretariat.
The chief minister along with party leaders, Waqar Mehdi, Rashid Rabbani and others offered fateh at the gallery of Shuda. Waqar mehdi presented him ajrak and Sindhi topi on his arrival at the party secretariat.
