ISLAMABAD: The Panama Leaks case hearing resumed on Monday led by a five-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
The prime minister’s counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan, while putting forth his arguments, referred to the past rulings of the Supreme Court. He deliberated upon the disqualification of the former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani.
According to media reports, the PTI leadership including Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shireen Mazari and PTI’s counsel Naeem Bukhari were present during the hearing but were seen dozing off at certain times.
In the last proceedings, Makhdoom Ali Khan made the argument that in order to disqualify the prime minister, a judicial declaration was needed. Makhdoom further said that Article 62 of the constitution, related to a person being sadiq and ameen (truthful and trustworthy), could be used by people to frame anyone. He said, “The Supreme Court in the Ishaq Khakwani case had declared Article 62 of the constitution a nightmare.”
