KARACHI: A two-member bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) struggled to agree on bail plea of Dr Asim.
The two-member bench comprised of Justice K.K Agha and Justice Farooq Shah.
According to details, the bench resumed hearing of two references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Dr.Asim.
After proceedings, Justice Agha approved Asim’s bail plea against two surety bonds of Rs2.5 million each. Justice Agha also directed to put Dr.Asim name on ECL and ordered government not to issue passport to the accused.
However, Justice Shah turned down bail plea and instructed trial court to conduct hearing of these references on daily basis.
The decision penned by Justice Farooq Shah narrated that appropriate treatment facilities are being given but court can’t grant bail to Dr Asim.
Case has been forwarded to chief justice after conflict emerged between the bench members. SHC CJ would now appoint a referee judge who would announce verdict on Asim’s bail plea.
