SRINAGAR: In Indian occupied Kashmir (IOK), Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani asked India to stop bragging about ‘Jhamooriyat and Insaniyat’ (democracy and humanity) as the Indian army has crossed all limits of humanity by tying a youth to the front of its vehicle as a human shield in Badgam district.
While addressing the Hurriyet activists and others, who had assembled at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar, said, “I read in today’s newspapers, that Farooq Ahmed Shalbaf, who had cast his vote at 8 am on April 9, had gone to mourn the death of his relative. He was stopped, beaten and later tied to the army jeep and paraded through dozens of villages of Badgam district from 10 am to 7 pm.”
Gilani said, “For hours together, Farooq was paraded through various villages with his hands tied with a rope. He was used as a human shield by the army.
India’s political leadership raises slogans of Jhamooriyat (democracy), Insaniyat (humanity) and Kashmiriyat, but fact is that all these slogans are a hoax,” Gilani said.
He said, “For the past 70 years New Delhi has been raising these slogans, but time has proved that it has never respected any of these slogans. The fact remains that people of Kashmir want freedom.”
Gilani said people of Nasrullah Pora in Badgam district, extended a helping hand and accompanied the forces, both paramilitary CRPF and the Army to the main road to ensure their safe passage (on April 9).
“Despite the fact that eight youth were killed, our youth ensured all the forces leave the place safely. But in lieu, our youth are made human shields with a message that others too will meet the same fate,” Gilani added.
“The army is doing these things to instill fear among the innocent Kashmiris.” Referring to the statement of former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar that “Kashmir is a very sensitive and difficult issue and it will take a time to get resolved,” Gilani said: “I want to tell Parrikar that Kashmir issue is easy to resolve. The only thing, Delhi needs to do is to start immediate withdrawal of its troops and allow the people of Kashmir to decide their fate by implementing United Nations resolutions.”
