GUJRANWALA: The prolonged and unscheduled load shedding in the city and adjoining areas has exposed the government’s claims about overcoming the crisis.
Residents said, “Electricity has once again started playing hide-and-seek with the citizens. The citizens are facing acute shortage of drinking water and other severe difficulties due to non provision of electricity.” Gujranwala Pakistan People’s Party leader Sagheer Butt said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) should quit the government as it had failed to overcome the energy crisis despite being in power for more than three years.
Addressing party workers in his office, he said although the government claimed electricity generation had increased, a massive load shedding continued in all urban and rural areas of the city. Since the current shortfall remains out of control, it is expected that load shedding would increase and the middle and lower classes suffered the most as they could not afford generators and UPS.
