LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has always given top priority to national interests and added that completion of uplift projects during the last four years was being acknowledged by the world.
Talking to PML-N MNA Ghulam Bibi Bharwana here on Wednesday, the chief minister said that political stability was necessary for progress and prosperity of the country. He said those who are involved in the politics of chaos and anarchy were enemies of the nation. He said that well aware people of Pakistan would not allow anybody to hamper the development process.
Separately, the chief minister Wednesday presided over a high-level meeting on Wednesday to review measures to promote technical and vocational education. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that the youth could be made economically empowered through provision of technical and vocational education.
He said that two universities would be established for the skills development in Lahore and Faisalabad. “The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had opened up new avenues for technical and vocational education and we should fully benefit from these opportunities,” he said.
He added that Chinese would be sought for promotion of vocational and technical education in Pakistan.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Sheikh Allauddin, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) chairman and officials concerned were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the chief minister chaired a meeting on Wednesday, which reviewed steps for establishment of the Lahore Knowledge Park and Pak-Italy University of Engineering Science and Technology.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the establishment Knowledge Park would be a landmark project in promotion of modern education, and added that campuses of best universities of the world would be set up at the Knowledge Park.
Punjab Higher Education Minister Raza Ali Gillani, Adviser Dr Umer Saif, chief secretary, educationists, Higher Education Commission (HEC) chairman and officials concerned were also present
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Faisalabad District Bar Association, led by its President Rana Ali Abbas Khan, called on Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday.
Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that legal fraternity had played a vital role in ensuring the supremacy of law and justice. He said lawyers had rendered immense sacrifices for the restoration of democracy and free judiciary, and their role in this could not be ignored. He said economic and social justice was indispensible for development of any society and lawyers should play their role in this regard.
The chief minister said that the Punjab government was working hard to complete public welfare and development projects in the province. He told the delegation that the Punjab government had set a new tradition of transparency in development projects.
Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana, Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Special Assistant Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan, MPA Sheikh Ijaz Ahmed, Faisalabad Bar Association Secretary Mian Mehran Tahir, Punjab Bar Council member Malik Javed Awan, Faisalabad Bar Vice President Rana Muhammad Zulfiqar, Joint Secretary Ch Abu Bakar Abdullah and executive members of the bar were also present on the occasion.
