KARACHI: The greenback closed depressed in value against the domestic unit in interbank and open market, currency dealers said.
Trivial demand from private sector, meagre imports payments and insignificant demand from corporate sector put dollar down by 06 paisas during trading as it closed at Rs 104.44 for buying and at Rs 104.64 for selling. The dollar changed hands at a low of Rs 104.43. The dollar rate differential between kerb and interbank markets remained Rs 1.26 on day’s average. The euro lost 20 paisas in the interbank market to close at Rs 113.80 for buying and at Rs 114 for selling. The pound sterling remained firm and closed at Rs 134.40 and Rs 134.60 for buying and selling respectively after gaining 32 paisas.
Kerb Market: The dollar remained dull against the rupee in the open market after it closed depressed in interbank, foreign exchange dealers said. The US dollar closed at Rs 105.90 for buying and Rs 106.10 for selling. It lost 05 paisas in the open market against the rupee. The demand and supply of dollar in the open market remained moderate, while demand from private sector’s buyers witnessed no improvement regarding to previous trading.
