LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party activists took out a large protest rally here on Saturday and staged a huge sit-in which started from Jinnah Bagh roundabout and spread up to entire Empire Road against the acute water shortages, worst electricity & gas load shedding in the province which was led by party’s Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro who is also Minister for Food.
Large number of women & men took part in the sit-in in this scorching heat holding hand fans in their hands on which ‘Go Nawaz Go’ slogan was also written.
The banners also inscribed with the slogan of “Gali Gali main Shor aa – Nawaz Sharif Chor aa” & “Go Nawaz Go”.
Nisar Khuhro while addressing the agitating workers said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had said at this roundabout that different decisions are made for Larkana & Lahore that is why, he added, we after listening to the voice of the people of Sindh have come out on roads to express solidarity with them against serious issued facing the province of water shortages and prolonged electricity blackouts and gas outages.
He said we will force Nawaz Sharif to quit the chair through massive sit-ins and protests. He said that Nawaz Sharif is disliked by people of Sindh ever since he chanted slogan in favour of Kalabagh Dam & since then he has not been able to create an space in the hearts of the people of Sindh.
He said that two judges had declared Nawaz Sharif neither Sadiq nor Amin but he (Nisar) is being asked now not to call Nawaz Sharif a thief. He said why should we tolerate a person who lied in the parliament and before the people. Khuhro said if JIT was to be constituted then why one year was wasted. Khuhro said that why should Nawaz Sharif be provided an opportunity to close down our water, power and gas supply.
He said we will not leave talking because it is our basic right. Nisar Khuhro said through protests we will inform the world that despite declaring untrustworthy our prime minister is still sitting on the chair.
He said that unfit prime minister must listen that these are not ten thousand people who are protesting here against his policies but entire Sindh will come out for their rights.
He said that we will not only stage sit-ins in front of power distribution companies’ offices but also on the bordering areas of Sindh & Punjab adding we will convert our forbiddings into power and force the prime minister to leave the office.
He said that peoples party has not been given justice despite the fact that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was judicially murdered adding we have great respect for the judiciary.
He said that sit-ins will be staged on 11th May in Mirpurkhas,16th May in Benazirabad and in Sukkur on 21st May adding even after that if central government did not take any notice then sit-ins will be held outside power distribution companies.
He said that water will be next dispute with the rulers and rights of Sindh will be obtained because water distribution is being made by WAPDA which is unjust and Sindh has serious objections.
He said that 20-hour prolonged electricity load shedding is being committed in Sindh adding why federal government is not seeing people of Sindh as humans. He demanded supply of electricity, gas and water according to the share of Sindh or else he added protests will continue till acceptance of demands. Gul Muhammad Jakhrani, Abdul Fattah Bhutto and others also addressed the gathering.
