PESHAWAR: Peshawar city district government on Wednesday decided on the demolition of buildings in Town-I which were constructed in violation of the city maps.
The government also decided that in case of the continuation of the violations, action would be taken against the concerned building inspector.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the Town-I Building Control Agency (BCA) with District Nazim Mohammad Asim Khan as chair. Those who attended included Town-I Nazim Zahid Nadeem, Town Municipal Officer (TMO) Azmatullah Wazir, BCA Committee Chairman, District Council Member Arbab Yousaf Hayat, District Councillor Asif Khan, EXN Town-I Rasheedullah, Finance Officer Saifullah Khattak, Accounts Officer Aziz Khan, ATO Gul Zaman, Chief Building Inspector Malik Aziz and others.
During the meeting, District Nazim Mohammad Asim Khan was given a detailed briefing on the ongoing commercial and non-commercial constructions. The meeting also approved various map plans.
The meeting further decided that the construction of buildings according to maps would be ensured in all circumstances and buildings constructed in violation of the maps would be demolished with immediate effect.
For this purpose, the district nazim would conduct weekly visits to the city on Saturdays. He directed all building inspectors to immediately stop work on the constructions made in violation of the maps and in case of finding such buildings, the concerned building inspectors would face action under the Removal from Service Order (RSO).
The meeting decided that after the fulfilling of the rules and regulations, the maps would be approved within a period of one month.
The meeting further decided on the imposition of heavy penalties on those putting debris on streets and roads. Without prior approval of the maps, no construction would be allowed while misreporting incidences would see the concerned building inspector suspended.
