PESHAWAR: Hayatabad Institute of Kidney DiseasesSenior UrologistDrManzoorclaimedon Tuesday that most of the district headquarters hospitals (DHQs) in Khyber Pakthunkhwalacked consultant urologists, despite the modern era of technology, forcing poor patients to visit Peshawar for proper medical treatment.
In an exclusive chat with APP, DrManzoor said about 40 urologists with all required degrees and certificates were currently jobless in the province and their services could easily be utilised to address the shortage of urologists at DHQsof the province.
However, he said this important problem was not being taken up seriously and poor patients from flung areas of KP were being forced to visit Peshawar for medical treatment.
DrManzoorsaid presence of two urologistsat each DHQ Hospital was mandatory as per Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC)’s instructions and it was the responsibility of Provincial Health Department to implement these directives in letter and spirit.
DrManzoorblamed the incumbent KP government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for neglecting the health sector despite tall promises. He demanded immediate appointment of urologists in DHQ hospitals in KP to help mitigate suffering of the ailing humanity.
