LAHORE: The Punjab AIDS Control Programme (PACP) will provide free-of-cost hepatitis medicines to HIV positive truck drivers during the ongoing screening drive in different cities of Punjab.
In a joint meeting of the Punjab AIDS Control and the Hepatitis Control Programme at Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Thursday, it was also decided to develop a liaison regarding HIV/AIDS and hepatitis B and C.
The meeting was attended by Punjab Health Service Director General Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Additional Secretary Admin Dr Adnan Zafar Khan, Additional Secretary Technical Dr Asim Altaf, programme managers, renowned consultants Ghiasun Nabi Tayyeb, , Professor Dr Imran and officials of the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department.
The meeting decided that testing, diagnostic and reporting mechanism would be completely computerised. The meeting reviewed operational modalities for strengthening PCR testing mechanism, including reporting and transportation of samples.
