MITHI: The Umerkot Municipality administration has stopped water supply to a school meant for children freed from bonded labour, Daily Times has learnt.
According to locals, the Umerkot Municipality officials have claimed that water supply to the school has been suspended, as the school falls out of the jurisdiction.
The residents of the colony with the help of the Association for Water, Applied Education and Renewable Energy (AWARE), a non-governmental organisation, had established the school to provide education to children of peasants freed from bonded labour.
Currently, 172 children are getting education at the school. The villagers have demanded the authorities concerned to install a reverse osmosis plant at the village to continue water supply.
