ISLAMABAD: Guidance centres at highways act as a place for road commuters to take a break during long journeys. The centre has a first-aid counter established with trained paramedical staff and an ambulance to provide first aid in case of any untoward situation.
This was stated by Shaukat Hayat, Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) while inaugurating new state of the art guidance centers in N-5 Central Zone at Ahmad Pur East. DIG Central Zone Mirza Faran Baig, SSP N-5 C-I Masroor Aalam Kolachi and police officers were also present on the occasion.
IG NH&MP Shaukat Hayat said these guidance centres will help in spreading road safety awareness among the general public. For this purpose, pamphlets, brochures, leaflets, panaflaxes and streamers will be displayed for awareness of road users.
Hayat added that guidance centres can also serve as a wakeup point especially during night time to curb the menace of dozing at the wheel.
Hayat said that Motorway Police is a department which is takes pride in its professionalism and public service policies. The IG further said that quality work can only be done with purity of intentions. The facilitation centers will provide timely and qualitative help to the distressed road users and the only reward for this help would be the will of Allah Almighty, as help to the people is a priceless treasure of both this world and the world hereafter.
Hayat further said that these guidance centres promote the friendly image of NH&MP and it is a step towards community policing as well. He added that these centres will act as a place for taking a break during long journeys on highways.
DIG Central Zone Mirza Faran Baig said that guidance centres on national highways are made for convenience of road users as they can use them for refreshment, washrooms facility and rest interval during their journey. He added that these facilitation centers will also best serve as first aid, road safety awareness and community policing centers.
Information regarding nearest available auto workshops, fuel/gas station, tire shop, rescue service, hospital, police station, airport, railway station, bus stand etc will be provided to road commuters at the centres.
