SYDNEY: A 21 year old Pakistani student in the University of Newcastle, Callaghan was severely beaten in a racist attack.
The 21 year old student, Abdullah Qaiser left Paksitan for higher education last February.
According to the Herald, as Abdullah was heading towards the Newcastle Library last night, he was targeted by racial violence. His car was surrounded by 6 or 7 people and before long a girl snatched his phone, while her accomplice opened the car’s door and punched him in the nose with a knuckle-duster.
All the while, they kept telling him to “go back to his f****ing country.” Abdullah rushed towards the gym to get first aid for his broken nose. He was late transferred to the hospital.
The campus authorities have started an investigation but the police have ruled out racial violence as the motive and Abdullah has agreed claiming they could have not know he was a brown person when they surrounded his car.
There has been a history of criminal activities at the Callaghan campus including a robbery at knifepoint.
