ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan is successfully moving towards the destination of safety and security.
She was addressing an exhibition “Safe and Secure Pakistan” in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The minister said that for the first time, all stakeholders sat together under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and evolved a narrative that led to launching of national internal security policy.
She said as a result of successful implementation of the policy, there has been marked reduction in the incidents of terrorism. She recalled that there were 2400 incidents of terrorism in the country in 2013 which have now come down to just 160.
Marriyum said the exhibition is best example of public-private partnership in augmenting efforts to make Pakistan safe and secure. She said apart from efforts of the government, and the law-enforcing agencies, there is a need to bridge the technological gap so as to effectively combat the menace of terrorism and strengthen national security.
Marriyum Aurangzeb also referred to reforms in curriculum and said the Ministry of Science and Technology is investing in research and development to make Pakistan secure.
