KARACHI: Sindh Government is taking concrete steps to promote sports activities in the province to not only find new talent in various sports but also to provide better recreational facilities to the youth so they can use their potential in a positive way.
An official of Sport Department informed in this regard that the Government is initiating a number of schemes in the new financial year with the allocation of Rs 365 million while Rs 1.294 billion have been allocated for the on-going schemes to be completed during the next two years.
The new schemes that are to be initiated include: construction of sports stadiums multipurpose grounds at Ghotki, Sukkur, Umerkot and Shikarpur, construction of pavilions at various sports ground in Karachi and Khairpur and rehabilitation and improvement of Sport Complex at Ghotki.
The department would also carry out schemes to lay synthetic turf at various hockey and football grounds in Karachi, Shikarpur, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur while squash court would also be constructed along with all the facilities in Karachi and Hyderabad.
