LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, said on Thursday that the masses would give their verdict on who was qualified and who was not.
Addressing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s women workers, Maryam said that she had suffered a lot on account of being the daughter of Nawaz Sharif. “My name was unfairly taken in the Dawn Leaks scandal. I had to suffer since I was the daughter of Nawaz Sharif and I stood by my prime minister,” she added.
Maryam said that people were asking why was development and progress in the country halted due to Nawaz’s disqualification. “When the dharna didn’t work and Panama also failed, then they brought forth the Iqama,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz said that former president of Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf, who had attacked the parliament and judiciary, was declared honest. “Musharraf, who destroyed the very foundations of rule of law in Pakistan, was declared innocent,” she said.
Maryam stated that now she had brought the case of Nawaz Sharif to the people of Pakistan. She urged the people to vote for PML-N in the upcoming by-election on September 12 in order to protect the sanctity of the vote and right the wrong that had been done to Nawaz.
