LAHORE: Former Director General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar has decided to retire early as he requested “premature release” citing personal commitments, Daily Times has learnt.
Lt Gen Akhtar said, according to media reports, in his resignation letter to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa that he wishes everyone to respect his decision without giving in to any form of speculation.
He has also served as Pakistan Rangers, Sindh DG and is currently the president of the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad.
