ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday submitted more documents in the Supreme Court (SC) taking a new position on the question raised over his claim of nearly 100,000 pounds.
The documents were released by the PTI chief in reference to a petition that was filed against him by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi which seeks Imran Khan’s disqualification over his non-disclosure of assets and existence of offshore companies.
According to the latest statements released by Imran, he was initially informed by the directors and shareholders of Niazi Services Ltd. That approximately 100,000 pounds of the money would be retained by NSL as legal costs after a County court decided against them in the United Kingdom.
Moreover, an appellate court decided in favor of PTI chief and NSL was allowed to transfer 40,000 GBP their account in May 2014. In addition to that 42,456 euros were also remitted to Imran after a settlement was reached by NSL with the tenant of the London flat to have two installments in 2007 and 2008.
Later on, the declaration of 40,000 pounds was made to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) since Khan was a MNA for that period. Similarly, the 43,456 euros amount was only recently declared to tax authorities and not to the ECP because Imran was not a MNA back in 2008.
“The position earlier taken qua the remaining almost GBP 100,000 retained by NSL in 2003 was based on memory, incorrect advice, the absence of a requisite record, lack of documentary information,” the statement released highlighting Khan’s previous position this issue.
Earlier this month, Khan submitted documents to SC claiming that over 99,000 pounds were leftover in the NSL bank account had been spent on legal matters. It was indicated that Khan showed no money in connection with the NSL accounts.
The petitioner in the case, Hanif Abbasi considered the court to not take unverified documents by Khan seriously.
