LAHORE: Senators expressed their grave concerns over dilapidate Pakistan’s value-added exports under Free Trade Agreement (FTA) 2006 with Beijing in a debate held in the Upper House on Friday.
Presenting a motion in the Senate, Senator Mian Atiq raised his reservations over economic ties with China and said that Beijing was not getting benefits of the agreement.
He said that the promotion of local industry was under threat as exports-concessions granted by Pakistan to Beijing were not utilised.
The Senator also questioned the progress of Gwadar under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), adding that the people of Balochistan were still deprived of the fruits of CPEC.
