LAHORE: Islamabad administration has issued a final warning to the protesters, occupying the Faizabad Interchange area, to end their sit-in by midnight.
The district magistrate issued a notification on Friday saying that the protesters have been repeatedly intimated about the illegality of their sit-in.
According to the notification, a strict action will be taken against the protesters if they will not clear the area by midnight.
“If an operation is launched, the onus will be on the participants and leaders of the protest,” it further stated.
Earlier today, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a contempt notice to Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal over his consistent failure to implement the court’s orders to end the sit-in.
The workers of different religious parties are gathered at Faizabad Interchange to demand the resignation of Law Minister Zahid Hamid for his alleged involvement in altering the “Khatm-e-Nubuwwat” declaration.
The government, however, has refused to accept their demand terming their protest a “political launch-pad” for the upcoming general elections.
