LAHORE: Sukkur Police, on Saturday, prevented a marriage between a 12-year-old girl and a 55-year-old man, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammad Ajmad Shaikh said.
He also said that the raid was conducted after the police was informed that a minor girl was being married to a 55-year-old man in Micro Colony area of the city.
The police arrived just in time to stop the marriage from taking place. Allah Dino, the bridegroom was arrested along with his three relatives, two women and a man.
The police shifted the 12-year-old girl to a women’s police station. The girl is set to appear before a special court on Sunday after a case is registered against the accused under Child Marriage Restraint Act.
