ISLAMABAD: The proceedings of the contempt of court case against Minister of State for Interior Affairs Tallah Chaudhry have been adjourned till March 8.
According to details, Tallah Chaudhry appeared before the three-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal, Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Faisal Arab on Tuesday. He was represented by Advocate Kamran Murtaza.
During the proceedings, Murtaza demanded the CD of the video in which Tallal Chaudhry had allegedly committed the contempt. He confirmed to the court that he had received the text of the video but wasn’t able to identify the contemptuous remarks and thus needed the CD of the video.
Justice Ejaz Afzal said on the occasion that it couldn’t be possible for a person to not know where he had uttered contemptuous remarks against the court.
Kamran Murtaza remained adamant that he couldn’t identify the problematic part from the text of the video. He demanded the court to adjourn the proceedings for another two days. However, the court granted time only till March 8, with Justice Maqbool Baqar observing that the defendant had already been provided enough time in the case.
Tallal’s counsel pleaded that his client would not be able to make it to the court on March 8 and thus the proceedings be adjourned till March 9 but the pray wasn’t granted. Justice Ejaz Afzal remarked that if the client couldn’t appear on March 8, it was fine with the bench.
