PESHAWAR: 24 youngsters, belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who went missing in Afghanistan, have been found detained under Bagram and Pul-e-Charkhi jails. They belong to Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi and adjoining districts. The last contact with them was made by their families in September, 2017. Reportedly, the missing people went to the neighbouring country in search of employment. International Humanitarian Organisation namely Red Cross took notice of the incident and is to be taken at the diplomatic level. During press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, families of the missing expressed dissatisfaction with the attempts being made by the authorities to rescue their relatives.
In October last year, a Pakistani engineer was kidnapped while working on the expansion project of the Jalalabad-Torkham highway, the road which joins Pakistan and Afghanistan.
His son, Farhan Ahmad told a private news channel that his father joined a foreign company 18 months ago. “He was abducted at the project’s site,” he added. Furthermore, he said that the kidnappers sent his family a video clip of Malik Faiz being tortured and gave them only four days to pay the ransom money.
