ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday dismissed petition filed by the Punjab government against regularisation of work-charge employees.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar heard the petition. Punjab government attorney Asma Hamid said that the recruitment of employees in 2012 are illegal.
The CJP inquired who had ordered the recruitment, to which Asma replied that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had ordered the move.
Asma further said that the government is calling it’s own CM’s order illegal. She also asked that “why wasn’t any notice sent to Shahbaz Sharif?”
The CJP remarked that Shahbaz should appear before the court if he receives a notice, as he is very fond of doing that. He also added that recruiting government employees on the basis of work-charge is a fraud and a violation of law.
The SC also dismissed petitions regarding the 19th amendment and restoration of article 258-B over being ineffective. The CJP said that the court has already given its verdict over 18th and 19th amendment.
Shahid Orakzai’s plea against former PM Yousaf Raza Gilani was also dismissed, in which he had challenged the actions of Gilani after he was declared ineligible to hold his seat.
Similarly, the petitions against the Justice Mazhar Alam Mian Khel, approval of two laws in a single day and holding of two offices by former judge Justice Shakirullah Jan were also dismissed.
