LAHORE: A Judicial Magistrate on Friday granted bail to three men accused of throwing a shoe at former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
The judge granted bail three men, Muhammad Sajid, Munawar and Abdul Ghafoor, while also ordered three to provide surety bonds worth Rs. 1 lac each.
On March 11, a former seminary student threw a shoe at former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Sunday during an event at Jamia Naeemia in Garhi Shahu area of Lahore.
Nawaz Sharif was invited to speak at an event at the seminary but as he reached the rostrum to address the audience, a person in the audience threw a shoe at him, hitting his chest, and started shouting slogans in favour of Tehreeke-e-Labbayk Ya Rasool Allah.
The attacker was detained by the seminary administration and was handed over to the police. Nawaz Sharif remained unhurt in the incident. A case was registered against the attackers and three people were taken into custody.
