ISLAMABAD: A three judge bench of the Supreme Court under Chief Justice (CJ) Saqib Nisar reinstated the Sharif family’s appeal against the Lahore High Court’s decision that had nullified the transfer of three sugar mills from Central to South Punjab.
The apex court had initially dismissed the ruling party’s appeal because the Sharif’s lawyer had not appeared in court. However, the advocate eventually showed up to which the CJ warned him to not be late again.
The Sharif family had moved three sugar mills—Ittefaq Sugar Mill, Haseeb Waqas Sugar Mill, and Chaudhry Sugar Mill to South Punjab. The Lahore High Court, however, had nullified the move and had ordered that the mills be moved back to their original locations.
The Sharifs had then registered an appeal in the Supreme Court against this decision.
