ISLAMABAD: There is no specific forum regarding Indus-Basin Agreement but the World Bank is the guarantor of it, Water and Power Minister Khawaja Asif told Senate on Thursday.
He added that during the last three years some 118 delegations of India and Pakistan have visited each other’s wetlands. He said there was no proper reconciliation commission on Indus-Basin Agreement, but it can be formed in case of any differences surface.
He told the House that India is constructing four dams on its western rivers which include Rinal Dam (800megawatts), Motor Kanai Dam (45megawatts), Bihar Dam (100 mw) and Kishan Ganga Dam (330 megawatt). Another project Hakal Dil Dam (1000megawatts) is on the cards.
He said that the water conflict with India would be resolved amicably.
The Senate was informed in black and white that the power generating capacity of Warsak Dam was 243megawatts, but its turbine became rusty so its capacity was decreased to 185 megawatts.
Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi told the Upper House that no suitable candidate was found for the slot of OGDCL MD. He said that in the past people having dual nationality were appointed on the post, but now the government is trying to fill the slot on merit.
