KARACHI: A robbery attempt on the private Liaquat National Hospital was foiled on Monday.
According to East Police Senior Superintendent (SSP) Faisal Abdullah Chachar, a guard and his supervisor were moving Rs 6.2 million from one block to another at the private hospital when the robbers intercepted them. The security guard resisted and tried to open fire thrice, however his gun did not work.
In an exchange of fire by the robbers, the guard suffered a bullet injury to his leg. The official said the armed men even tried to snatch the guard’s weapon.
He said the robbers had entered the hospital premises on a motorcycle and had obtained a parking slip.
He informed sources that one of the armed men was wearing a helmet, but the other was not. Police are on the lookout for the robbers, who were able to flee the scene of the crime.
