LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has concluded a cleanup operation by removing over 200 tonnes of dunghill in Gawala Colony, Harbanspura.
More than 100 workers took part in the cleanliness drive between April 3 and April 24. A large amount of manure has been removed from the vicinity with the help of heavy machinery.
According to the LWMC, the operation was aimed at resolving cleanliness problems in the locality and improving cleanliness conditions at the colony. LWMC Manager Operations Hassan Khalid, Assistant Manager Hamza Bin Masood and Zonal Officer Zaki Shah supervised the operation whereas LWMC Deputy General Manager Asif Iqbal and Senior Manager Operations Suhail Malik paid special visits to review the ongoing work.
Hassan Khalid said that the LWMC launched the cleanliness drive at Gawala Colony despite the fact that the area did not come under the jurisdiction of the company. He said that the LWMC was also planning to utilise more than 220 tonnes of animal waste being produced daily in the locality by installing bio-gas plants.
